Dupe detector idea

* El Cap Wed Nov 19th, 2008 9:18am

How about when submitting an item, based on the keywords/title you entered it searches for possibly relevant results and pops up a box listing these along with a small preview saying "could this be a dupe?"

It would make it easy for us to search for dupes at the submission process rather than navigating away to use the search function and viewing the queue to check.

Definitely agree with this. I believe Digg does it like this as well.

There is an open ticket for implementing this.

Yeah, that would be nice. *If* it could be just like the "Moar Goodness" box but updated as they input information. (erection)

Hmm. I was thinking of something more like how Digg does it.

You submit the item, click submit. It takes you to a page that lists possible dupes and asks you to verify that your submitted item is not a dupe. Then you click Confirm, and the item is posted.

I went to this digg.com and also approve of this, but I don't know what rfe is. :(

rfe == request for enhancement
