Vietnam Tom is, contrary to mr. dino, not a racist. He displays violent tendencies, a clear product of his war experience among other potential things, but doesn't showcase any distinct form of discrimination. Any perjoratives Tommy said, in interviews I've seen, have been used to quote the black guy who intentionally came looking for the end of Tom's fist, spilling all manner of white defamation himself along the way. To be clear, if Tom is anything he's honest. Probably in part because he's mentally incapable of straight facing a lie. I don't beleive Tom was intentionally being racist, and Michael himself said he was intoxicated during the event. I don't beleive either side is right, and it seems most people think one side is absolutely right and the other absolutely wrong, but it's between a mentally unstable veteran with anger problems and a guy that was intoxicated and probably has experienced a fair amount of racism (He is 50). Tom shouldn't have got so pissed and maybe should have tried to understand why Michael would have taken it for racism, and Michael shouldn't have been so damn drunk and should have accepted that the intention was not racist. So as far as i'm concerned this is not only a misunderstanding, but both sides are wrong!

How you can expect any one person man or women go over sea's and fight in a war and loss friends in the fight how do you think you would come home feeling when if you get sick for example had a great friend of mine need a liver transplant and guess what he was a decorated Vietnam Vet you think he got a new liver, no way he got put on the list and the man passed on God Bless him, but on the other hand if some one in prison needed that liver you bet your bottom dollar he receives it! So how was this man buried like a hero with a full military funeral and final resting spot but they could not save his life why because no the burden is gone! I've read that he possibly suffers from mental illness. Of all the time I've spent in and around the SF area and in the service of the public, this unfortunately seems highly probable.
