LCD's are not susceptible to burn-in. I'll bet this TV is perfectly fine... it just needs to be turned off for a couple of days.

Could also be that the guy doesn't even know the difference between LCD and plasma and doesn't even know what he has. Maybe he thinks all flat screens are LCD. Or maybe it's complete BS. :)
