The way the illusion works is the entire maze is built to not be straight (small curves here and there.) The human brain doesn't like this very much, and will automatically recalibrate the image to make the area you are looking at APPEAR straight. While this occurs the areas in your peripheral get ignored. When you change your focus the mind recalibrates the image as you move along causing the illusion of the maze 'wobbling'
